Since its creation in 2012, the department of architecture, “Université 8 Mai 1945 Guelma” has organized several scientific events which aimed to question the knowledge and the practices inherent to the architecture and urban planning, with a particular interest given to the question of the development of cities, as a living system whose parts are dynamically linked by interaction according to land, demographic, equipment, employment and urban restructuring logics 

Previous works on the issu has highlighted the fact that all theselogics are part of a single register, which is that of the development, attractiveness and competitiveness of a city with the attractions of sustainability and persistence. Target values that cannot be achieved without proactive action through strategic planning emanating from a mode of governance that promotes local development based on synergy between the different parts of a city's living system.
